The DAMSEL project is a Java-based web-application with a database back-end
which supports storing, retrieving, categorizing, searching, browsing, and managing
digital assets. Using technologies such as the Struts web-application framework,
the Jakarta Tomcat application server, the MySQL database engine, and JavaServer Pages,
DAMSEL capitalizes on open standards and free software.
Although the DAMSEL project was started as part of the ACS Technology Center efforts
to produce high-quality, open, freely available software and middleware for educational
institutions, DAMSEL is flexible enough for use by any application that requires
a digital assets management system.
Licensed under the terms of the GNU
General Public License, DAMSEL development
continues outside of the ACS Technology Center Summer Software Engineering Internship via its
sourceforge.net presence.
